Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has already signalled his intent to sign a world class talent if the club make it into Europe’s most elite club competition, and now Benzema has emerged as a realistic option.
According to sources in Spain, Rodgers has been told that the France international would be open to making an exit from the Spanish capital at the end of the season and the manager is hoping to tempt him by the prospect of playing alongside Luis Suarez.
However, the Anfield outfit aren’t the only ones interested and would face some serious competition for his signature from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, but Liverpool are said to be considering putting together an attractive package.
Benzema has failed to live up to the expectations of the Madridistas since his arrival from Lyon as they believe that he has not delivered enough, especially since Gonzalo Higuain’s departure last summer.
Any prospective deal would likely cost the club in excess of £25m.
