Man United continue to scout Benfica centre-back Ezequiel Garay with TuttoMercato claiming that Old Trafford boss David Moyes is looking to sign the Argentine international this summer.

The rock solid 27 year old has long been linked with a move to Man United and Moyes could certainly do with an injection of quality at the back given that experienced pair Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand are both likely to leave the club this summer.

Both centre-backs are out of contract at the end of the season and with both Chris Smalling and Phil Jones looking more comfortable in alternative roles at right-back and defensive midfield, there is an even greater need to invest in Man United’s ‘problem area’.

Garay has done wonderfully well to re-ignite a career that was stagnating at Real Madrid and the powerful defender has been near flawless since moving to the Portuguese capital.

Moyes will be keen to bring in a number of summer additions as he seeks to put his stamp on the squad he inherited from former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

One imagines that Garay would jump at the chance of a move to Man United and even if Moyes fails to secure a Champions League berth he may still be confident of signing the Benfica man.
