Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly readying a summer move for under-fire Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil according to Spanish source AS.

Mourinho is known to retain a good relationship with German international Ozil having worked with the midfielder during their shared time at Real Madrid and this source claims that the West London club are set to make a summer bid for Arsenal’s record transfer signing.

Such a move would represent a massive coup and comes amid a great deal of criticism Ozil has received in recent weeks after a series of below par performances, which led to the 25 year old being dropped from Arsenal’s squad for their 4-1 win over Sunderland last weekend.

Arsenal paid £42.5m for Ozil and though he has failed to deliver in recent weeks only Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard have provided more assists than the Gunners star.

Arsene Wenger would not consider selling Ozil though if the former Bernabeu star believes his abilities are being questioned by the Arsenal manager then he could consider a move to reunite with his former boss.

Having sold Juan Mata there is perhaps room for the addition of Ozil to Chelsea’s creative midfield ranks.

Should Arsenal fail to secure any silverware this term then Ozil may also feel that his ambitions could be better served elsewhere though a move to London rivals Chelsea would certainly make him the object of a great deal of animosity from his current club’s supporters.
