Vicente Calderon side target Anfield forward.
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has made Liverpool ace Luis Suarez his number one transfer priority according to the Daily Mirror.
The Vicente Calderon boss is fearful that his top-scorer, Brazilian born forward Diego Costa, will leave the club in the summer and has subsequently made the Anfield marksman his first choice replacement should such an exit take place.
Such a move would be an ambitious one and whilst Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers may fear losing Uruguayan international Suarez he would probably feel less of a threat if Atletico came calling than a number of more illustrious suitors.
Should Liverpool secure a top four finish then one would imagine Suarez would be going nowhere, the 27 year old having only recently signed a new long term contract making him the best paid player in the club’s history.
Should they fail to qualify for the Champions League then perhaps the chances of an exit increase, though a move to Atletico Madrid seems fairly unlikely.
Though Suarez has hit a small barren spell in recent weeks he has still scored an impressive 23 goals in 22 Premier League starts.
