Joel Matip
Brendan Rodgers has had a few problems at the back during portions of this season with Daniel Agger not being at his best and Kolo Toure lurching from one glaring error to another. Martin Skrtel has been fairly dependable but at 29 years of age his best years are perhaps behind him.
22 year old Cameroon internatioanl Matip has been a mainstay at the heart of the Schalke defence for the past couple of seasons, having switched from a defensive midfield role to a centre-back with incredible ease.
Matip is being targeted by both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund but Brendan Rodgers would do well to register his interest in the rock solid defender.
