Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Real Madrid youngster Alvaro Morata though the terms of the transfer are still be ironed out according to the Daily Mirror.
The Spanish Under 21 international is considered one of the hottest prospects in Europe but has struggled to make an impact at the Bernabeu, making just one La Liga start this season, and a move away from Real Madrid appears on the cards.
Though Morata would’ve expected to play second fiddle to Karim Benzema, who currently spearheads an attack that also includes Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, he is perhaps surprised to see fellow youngster Jese Rodriguez ahead of him in the striking queue.
Real Madrid are ready to sell Morata for £8m but want to add a buy-back clause into his contract, something Arsene Wenger may well object to.
Wenger is keen to supplement his attack with Olivier Giroud shouldering a fair bit of the striking burden due to a series of average displays by Lukas Podolski and a long term injury suffered by Theo Walcott.
Morata has only started four matches in all competitions this season but has managed to net five times.
