Oscar for Luka Modric – fair deal?

Chelsea are willing to offer Brazilian playmaker Oscar to Real Madrid, in exchange for Croatian sensation Luka Modric, reports Spanish publication La Sexta.
Mourinho would ideally like to keep hold of his 22-year-old South American playmaker, but has been apparently been hit with the bombshell from Roman Abramovich that he will have to sell before he can buy this summer.
Real Madrid are interested in Oscar’s services, and it has not gone unnoticed in the Blues camp that the Brazilian’s form has dropped in the second half of the season. So much so, Mourinho decided to use Willian in the pivotal no.10 role at the weekend, leaving Oscar on the bench.
The Portuguese manager is a huge fan of Modric, having worked with the former Tottenham player during his tenure in charge of Real Madrid. The 28-year-old plays in an anchoring, more dictatorial role now, and Mourinho believes his deepest midfielders lack creative ability.
With a superstar striker signing Chelsea’s priority, Mourinho wants to secure a top notch supply line for the new forward as well, and has apparently earmarked Modric as his no.1 target.
In truth though, large swap deals involving two multi-million pound players rarely take place, as differences in opinion over each player’s worth and two sets of contract demands stifle negotiations.
It’s more likely that Chelsea will offload a number of less important players, and current loanee pair Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois than consider parting with Oscar.
