Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti has set his sights on Liverpool goal machine Luis Suarez but needs to cash-in on 26 year old former Lyon man Benzema to help fund an offer for the Anfield star, an offer that one imagines will have to be fairly astronomical to have any chance of success.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has targeted Suarez as he seeks to form a mouthwatering three pronged attack that would see the Uruguayan sit in a central role with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale either side of him.
Benzema has been fine form this season, thriving in a regular first team role following the sale of Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli, scoring 25 goals in all competitions.
The powerful forward has just over a year to run on his current deal so this summer may be the right time to cash-in on his services.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has long been an admirer of Benzema and could certainly do with a forward who can offer support to Olivier Giroud and the Real Madrid man would be a huge improvement on the options the Arsenal manager can currently call upon.
