Full back is contracted to St Mary’s until 2018.
Young Southampton left-back Luke Shaw has revealed that he is happy to have been mentioned in the same breath as Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United, although the Englishman has also insisted that he is only thinking about the south coast club at this particular moment in time, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The impressive England international has been heavily linked in recent weeks with both the Premier League champions and the Uefa Europa League holders who are in need of a new left back next season.
In fact, it had also been reported that the Red Devils were on the verge of landing Shaw in an eye-catching deal worth a staggering £30m as the club look to find a replacement for experienced France international Patrice Evra at the Theatre of Dreams next season.
However, when asked about these recent rumours at Sunday night’s Professional Footballers’ Association awards dinner in London, in which the 18-year-old was nominated for the Young Player of the Year award, Shaw was non committal on the subject.
“It’s a good thing to be linked with them but I don’t concentrate on that stuff,” said Shaw, who lost out to Chelsea’s Eden Hazard in the young player category.
“I have my football to focus on and that’s the most important thing at the moment.”
