Stamford Bridge target Bernabeu battler.
Chelsea are readying a £35m bid for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira according to the Daily Express.
The tough tackling 27 year old has been out of action since November but is nearing a return to the first team having been named as a sub for the club’s recent draw with Valencia.
Khedira may struggle to force his way back into Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven with Luka Modric and Xabi Alonso taking up central midfield berths and youngster Asier Illarramendi acting as a very able back-up so a move to Stamford Bridge could tempt the German international.
Jose Mourinho used Khedira regularly during his stint in charge of the Bernabeu side and is set to make a big money bid for the former Stuttgart man.
Interest from Chelsea could perhaps spell the end of John Obi Mikel’s Blues career and may be with a view to either playing alongside or instead of January signing Nemanja Matic.
Having been out for the best part of six months out with a knee injury it seems unlikely he would be named in Joachim Low’s national team squad for the World Cup finals so could be a player Jose Mourinho can look to target early into the summer transfer window.
