The highly rated Brazil international has been consistently linked with the Catalan giants now for the past 12 months, with Barcelona having tried to lure Luiz to Camp Nou during last summer’s transfer window.
However, at that time returning Blues head coach Jose Mourinho was understood to not be prepared to allow Luiz to move to the west London club’s fierce rivals from Spain, and so the self-styled Special One blocked the transfer from taking place.
But now the situation at Stamford Bridge is a lot different after the Portuguese just finished an all-too-rare trophyless campaign, with Mourinho now said to already be planning for the next campaign.
And in order to facilitate those plans this summer, Mou will have to offload some of his big-name players, the first of which will be the shaggy-haired 27-year-old who is currently contracted to Chelsea until June 2017.
However, for the proposed £30m move to take place though, the new Barca boss will first need to give his consent.
