The 26 year old Brazilian seems likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer having become something of a bit-part player under Jose Mourinho and a move to the Nou Camp is sure to tempt the former Benfica man.
Luiz played a key role in Chelsea’s Champions League and Europa League triumphs but started less than half of the club’s Premier League fixtures this term and was often used in a defensive midfield role as Jose Mourinho kept faith with a central defensive partnership of Gary Cahill and John Terry.
Barcelona will look to tempt Mourinho into selling Luiz by offering tough tackling Cameroon international Alex Song, a player who wouldn’t appear to be of huge interest to the Blues boss given he has the likes of Nemanja Matic, John Obi Mikel and Ramires in his armoury.
The addition of Chilean Alexis Sanchez may however alert Mourinho as he desperately looks to strengthen his ailing attack.
The former Udinese man initially struggled for form in La Liga but this season has proven very effective, scoring 18 goals and providing ten assists in 26 Spanish league starts.
