With reports linking him with a move away from City the elite close in.
The future of Yaya Toure at Manchester City remains in doubt after his agent’s bizarre outburst on Monday and Arsenal and Chelsea and looking to take advantage, according to the Daily Star.
After turning 31-years-old two days after City had secured the Premier League title for a second time in three years, amazingly Toure was put out by the fact the Citizens did not celebrate his birthday properly.
Despite being a fully grown man the Ivory Coast international is now considering his options – according to his animated representative Dimitry Seluk – and some of Europe’s elite are taking note.
Barcelona and Manchester United are also thought to be interested and such is Toure’s disillusion at the Etihad Stadium the midfielder is prepared to take a pay cut to force the move through.
Currently the African is among the best paid players in England, with weekly wages of around £220,000 amounting to a salary of about £11m a year.
Toure only recently signed a new four-year contract with City as well, meaning the English champions are in a good position for negotiations, although it’s said their delays in offering the Ivorian that deal has contributed to his disappointment in the club.
The former Barca star was widely regarded as the Citizens’ best player in 2013/14, scoring 20 league goals and providing nine assists.
