Spurs hope to land Spanish wonderkid from under the noses of the Gunners.
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a bid for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to the Daily Express.
The 21-year-old, who has scored 13 goals in 12 Under-21 appearances for Spain, is also wanted by Juventus, Inter Milan and North London rivals Arsenal.
Morata made 23 La Liga appearances this season, but just three of those were starts. He scored eight league goals.
Real appear keen to keep hold of Morata, to provide cover for Karim Benzema, who netted 17 times in La Liga this season.
However, the Madrid club could be willing to part with Morata, who has just over 12 months left to run on his current contract, if they manage to land Liverpool striker Luis Suarez – their top summer transfer target.
Arsenal tried to sign Morata in January, but they were unsuccessful.
The Gunners are still keen on the youngster, but Spurs could get their first.
The White Hart Lane club are apparently willing to strike a loan deal for Morata, although they would prefer to sign him on a permanent basis.
Morata is a tall, pacy forward, whose best attributes are his finishing, heading and excellent first touch.
