Sunderland are to offer £4m for Swansea City skipper Ashley Williams according to the Guardian.

The 29 year old has a year to run on his current contract and may be ready for a fresh challenge at the Stadium of Light.
Gus Poyet is keen on bringing in the Welsh international and will offer £4m for Williams and offer Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins may elect to accept if the experienced centre-back has no intention of remaining at the club he joined back in 2008.
Poyet has already brought in West Brom defender Billy Jones and Wigan midfielder Jordi Gomez already and allowed both Phil Bardsley and Craig Gardner to leave the north-east club.
Swede Sebastian Larsson has agreed a new three-year contract though Jack Colback is still to agree a deal to remain at the club.
