Bayern Munich attacker Toni Kroos has apparently asked the club to allow him to join Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer and will subsequently snub a move to Manchester United in the process, according to El Confidencial.

The 24-year-old has apparently resigned himself to leaving the German champions this summer, but is hoping to have some sort of say in where he ends up leaving for.
According to the Spanish daily, Carlo Ancelotti’s number one objective over the summer is to bolster his midfield options, and with the likes of Paul Pogba proving difficult to land, Kroos is now on the Madrid shopping list.
Reports are also suggesting that Kroos has urged his current club to allow him to leave for Spain and to open negotiations should the Spaniards make an approach at any point over the coming weeks.
However, this is in stark contrast to what Kroos said a mere 10 days ago where he hinted at possibly staying at Bayern.
“I would be very surprised [if Bayern let me leave before end of my contract in 2015]. The club was very clear and told me that a transfer in 2014 would not be possible,” he said.
“There have been many speculations, but Manchester United was never an issue and is no issue right now.”
The news will come as a blow to Manchester United either way, as David Moyes’ initial interest in the player was set to be followed up by incoming boss Louis Van Gaal.
