The Blues boss is not willing to listen to offer for the Brazilian midfielder, who has been a mainstay of the Chelsea first team for the past four seasons, and hopes instead to lure a number of talents away from the Bernabeu this summer.
Mourinho wants to bring in French youngster Raphael Varane, who has been used on a limited basis since Carlo Ancelotti took over at Real Madrid, as the Portuguese boss looks to strengthen this defence.
It is likely that January signing Kurt Zouma will once again be sent out on loan and with John Terry clearly in the latter stages of his career and David Luiz having been sold a move for centre-back Varane is a sensible one to pursue.
German battler Sami Khedira missed most of last term through injury but is another player on Mourinho’s wish-list and could well be a player Ancelotti considers selling consider the multitude of central midfield options he has in his armoury.
Though Mourinho knows the pair well from his time in charge the third target, Spanish international Isco, arrived in the Spanish capital after he had left to return to Chelsea.
The former Malaga man has impressed when called upon but was by no means a first team regular in his first season at the club and is perhaps a player Mourinho would see as a potential long term replacement for Frank Lampard.
Isco scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions in 2013/14 and is part of Vicente del Bosque’s World Cup finals squad.
