The national team captain is rumoured to be unsettled in the capital after losing his place in the starting XI to Diego Lopez, and despite featuring regularly in the club’s Champions League campaign he made only two appearances in the league last season.
Many have tipped the 33-year-old to move on this summer, feeling that a player of his pedigree is far too good to be spending on the bench, and Arsenal have been keen to take advantage of his current situation by bringing him to thew Emirates.
However, Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has looked to dash Arsenal’s hopes of landing his signature by stating that though their goalkeeping situation has not yet come to a conclusion he does believe that Casillas will remain at the club beyond the summer.
“We have not thought about it because after the Champions League victory everyone left for their holiday”, the Italian told reporters on Monday.
“Casillas is very happy at Real Madrid and I believe that he will stay.”
