Real Madrid are reported to be interested in AC Milan’s Italy international Mattia De Sciglio, a player Manchester United are thought to be keeping tabs on this summer, according to Football Italia.

The 21-year-old has already racked up 11 caps for his country and is a part of their 23-man squad at the World Cup in Brazil this summer. His performances for Milan over the last three seasons, primarily at right-back, but also on the left side, have attracted the attention of other big clubs around Europe.

The Champions League winners are thought to be in the driving seat to sign  the youngster as AC Milan are interested in Real’s midfielder Casemiro.

A swap deal between the two clubs is a potential scenario as the Brazilian appears to be surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 22-year-old moved to the Spanish capital in 2013 but made just 12 La Liga appearances last season.

United are hoping to lure De Sciglio to Old Trafford, however, as they look to completely rebuild their defence under new manager Louis van Gaal. The Red Devils are looking for new signings at both left and right-back, both positions which the Italian can fill, so it is clear to see why he is an appealing prospect.
