AC Milan are the latest European giant to show an interest in signing Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic, after he announced that he expects to leave the German champions this summer, reports Italian newspaper Tuttosport, in Inside Futbol.

The Croatian striker has enjoyed an exceptional strike rate at Bayern over the last two seasons, and scored 29 goals in 44 games across all competitions for the Bavarians in the last campaign.

However, he has become disillusioned at the Allianz Arena and intends to move to pastures new this summer. AC Milan are only the most recent team to throw their hat in the ring for his signing, alongside the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Mandzukic is not out of contract at Bayern and there could well be a bidding war about to break out for him. Of the teams thought to be interested, it is likely that Real would have the better of any such financial tussle.

Nothing is likely to be sorted out before the World Cup where Mandzukic is set to lead the line for Croatia. His side are involved in the opening match of the tournament when they are the significant underdogs taking on Brazil at the Maracana on Thursday.
