Arsene Wenger in talks with former Gunners star as he looks to persuade midfielder into making Emirates Stadium return.
Check in to Spain vs Netherlands
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is planning a last ditch move to re-sign former Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas with the north London side looking to beat Chelsea and Man United in pursuit of the 27 year old Spanish international.
CaughtOffside understands that whilst Wenger initially opted to not take up the first option on Fabregas, after it became clear that Barcelona were ready to sell the midfielder, he is set to conduct a U-turn on the matter and has held talks with the player in the last few days.

Wenger plans to fly out to Brazil to meet Fabregas’s representatives during the World Cup and is ready to meet Barcelona’s £33m valuation and hopes to welcome back the World Cup winner this summer.
Incoming Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is ready to offload a number of his first team squad as he sets about an overhaul of his Nou Camp squad and Fabregas has been informed that he is now surplus to requirements at the Catalan club.
Fabregas moved back to Barcelona in a £35m deal in August 2011 and has had an up and down time of it over the past three seasons and came in for a fair amount of abuse from his own supporters last term during which he became something of a scapegoat after a rare trophy-less campaign presided over by former boss Gerardo Martino.
It should be noted that Fabregas netted 13 goals in all competitions and finished the season as Barcelona’s leading assist maker so the treatment he received was seemingly unjustified.
In his previous spell at Arsenal Fabregas made 303 appearances and is said to be open to the prospect of a move back to the club he represented for eight years.
