Reds target makes Serie A switch.Liverpool have missed out on the signing of French winger Jeremy Menez, who has opted to leave Paris Saint-Germain for a free transfer to AC Milan, according to L’Equipe.
The 27-year-old allowed his contract at the Parc des Princes to run down this summer, and has favoured a switch to the San Siro over a chance to play in the Premier League, signing a long-term contract with Milan.
This will come as a big boost for the Rossoneri, who endured a highly disappointing season in 2013/14 and who will be keen to strengthen in several areas of the pitch as they prepare for life under new manager Filippo Inzaghi.
Numerous other clubs had also shown an interest in Menez as it became increasingly clear he would not be extending his stay with PSG, where he had found himself out of favour with manager Laurent Blanc in his final season with the club.
Liverpool were believed to be his main admirers from England, while Milan’s Serie A rivals Juventus had also been touted as potential contenders to snap him up this summer.
Menez spent three years with PSG, winning the Ligue 1 title on two occasions, but his struggle for games this season has seen him miss out on a place in France’s World Cup squad.
