Chelsea Plot Move to Sign Real Madrid Midfielder On Free Transfer Next Summer

Mourinho wants reunion with former player.

Check in to Germany vs Algeria

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is prepared to wait until next summer to sign Sami Khedira from his old club Real Madrid, according to Fichajes.net.

The Blues have long been linked as admirers of the German international, who is seemingly unhappy with life at the Bernabeu at the moment, and could run down his contract at the club, which is set to expire at the end of next season.

It remains to be seen if Real will attempt to offload Khedira this summer to avoid losing him on a free, but with a reunion with his old manager Mourinho possibly a priority for him, it may be that he will not be in a rush to negotiate with other clubs.

The likes of Manchester United have also been linked with the 27-year-old in recent times, but Chelsea look the favourites to snap him up if he does become available, as they continue to eye new signings in midfield despite the recent addition of Cesc Fabregas, along with Nemanja Matic back in January.

Khedira won La Liga under Mourinho during his reign in Madrid, but has since fallen out of favour with current manager Carlo Ancelotti, though injury problems have not helped his progress either.
