Best left-back in the world? Do us a favour. He probably will play for Brazil again – but he has no right to, when probably the best left-back in Europe last season, Filipe Luis, wasn’t even in Scolari’s squad. Marcelo totally neglected his defensive duties in a World Cup semi-final, making stupid ill-judged decisions to mindlessly storm forward and gift Germany goals. Even terrible footballers can stand in the right place so the opposition have to at least pass or dribble round them. Not Marcelo, though.
