Wenger To Take Gamble On Real Madrid Star And Give Him A Five-Year Deal At Arsenal

Wenger said to be offering Casillas a contract.

The Daily Express reports that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is willing to take a gamble and offer a five-year deal to Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas.

Wenger probably wants the 33-year old to spearhead his goalkeeping ranks as the French boss is not convinced about his No.1 Wojciech Szczesny’s maturity levels just yet.

Casillas has had his own share of woes with the gloves as he was poor for Spain at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and also lost his place as a La Liga regular for the Los Blancos last season.

Wenger though is a big fan of the legendary ‘keeper and wants to give him a new lease of life at the Emirates Stadium by handing him a deal worth £7 million.

Casillas is said to be available at a low fee of around £1.4 million as he is believed to have requested a move out of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Arsenal are also said to have completed a deal for 25-year old Colombian World Cup star David Ospina though, and it remains to be seen whether Wenger is planning to bring in two high pedigreed goalies as competition to Szczesny this summer.
