United enquiring whether Cavani would be willing to take a wage cut to force move.

Manchester United have opened new talks with their long term striker target Edinson Cavani, reports the Metro.

The Red Devils are keen to land the Uruguayan from Paris Saint-Germain as an upgrade on their want away striker Javier Hernandez, and their officials are reportedly scheduling talks to meet with the ace striker.

United are looking to enquire whether Cavani is willing to take a wage cut to move to Old Trafford as they prepare to match PSG’s £48 million valuation of the striker.

United boss Louis van Gaal feels that his squad has room for one more world class striker to support Robin van Persie, and is being kept in the loop about negotiations with Cavani.

However, reports earlier this week suggested that Cavani may be willing to make his peace at PSG this season after he was assured a tactic change by his manager Laurent Blanc.

Cavani is said to be unsettled at being forced to play as a wide forward for the French giants, but he is likely to get a more central role this term.

Hence, a move to Old Trafford seems quite some distance away for the former Napoli star.
