Liverpool look set to miss out on another one of their attacking targets, with Paris Saint Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi set to snub a move to Anfield in favour of holding out for a new deal at the Parc des Princes, report the Metro.

The Reds had been linked with a £17.9m move for a player who often seems to be sidelined by Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the French capital, but it would appear at that the Argentina international isn’t interested in a move to Anfield.

The report suggests that the 29 year-old, formerly of Serie A side Napoli, will negotiate a new deal with Laurent Blanc’s PSG in the coming weeks, putting pen to paper and what is likely to be the last huge contract of Lavezzi’s career.

The news will come as a blow to Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who is still searching for a new forward to help replace Luis Suarez, although the Reds still hold out some hope of signing Lavezzi’s teammate Edinson Cavani.

Another former Napoli attacker, Cavani has also been shifted out of position due to the prominence of Ibrahimovic at the Parc des Princes and may be keen to move on if he isn’t given assurances of increased playing time upfront.
