Samuel Eto’o Approaches Inter Milan About Possible Return

Cameroonian star will look to return to Italy.

Former Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o has reportedly approached Inter Milan about a possible return to the club after being released by Chelsea this summer, according to Goal.com.

Eto’o spent the weekend in talks with Dutch giants Ajax, but is believed to favour a return to Inter Milan, with whom he won the treble during a brilliant two-year spell between 2009 and 2011.

However, club president Erick Thohir has expressed reservations about forking out the cash to bring him to the club due to his age (33) and his desired salary, which lies in the region of €4-5 million (£3.2-4m) a season.

Inter coach Walter Mazzarri is said to be in the market for a new striker, though, to act as competition for the likes of Mauro Icardi, Dani Osvaldo and Rodrigo Palacio, but would rather bring on board a second striker rather than a penalty box player.

However, despite concrete offers on the table from the likes of Ajax and Wolfsburg, Eto’o is prepared to give the Inter back office time to change their minds.

The news could also come as a blow to Liverpool, who have reportedly registered an interest in the veteran hit man as they continue to search for a replacement to Luis Suarez.
