Real Madrid midfielder and Arsenal target Sami Khedira has strongly hinted that he could be close to leaving his current club, according to Spanish publication Marca.
The German international has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu for much of this summer after falling down in the pecking order in Carlo Ancelotti’s side and rejecting the offer of a new contract.
Although Khedira returned alongside Manchester United target Angel Di Maria to Madrid training today, the player took the opportunity to give an update on his future, revealing that he has one foot out of the door.
Chelsea have also been linked with the 27-year-old at points this summer, though Arsenal are thought to have stepped up their interest in the former Stuttgart man after losing club captain Mikel Arteta to injury for two weeks or more.
The Gunners will now hope that Khedira’s latest words suggest a move to the Emirates Stadium could be close to completion, with Real known to be keen on offloading the player due to his current contract being up next summer, which would allow him to move to another club for free.
“At the moment I have a foot out the door. Until 31st August, anything can happen,” he told reporters.
