The Reds had been busy during the summer window, bringing in a number of player to fill the squad out following the £75m windfall they received from the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
And now CaughtOffside understands that Rodgers has targeted the Porto duo as potential key members of his squad when the market is open for business once again.
The manager has had his eye on Danilo for some time, though he did bring in Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid in August, the young Spaniard is only at Anfield on loan, and there has been question marks raised over the future of England’s Glen Johnson thanks to his poor form and expiring contract.
Known for his forays forward and his goalscoring, Danilo would be the ideal replacement for both Johnson and Manquillo, and would have time to grow into the role alongside them until the end of the campaign.
The Reds are also keen on Juan Quintero as Rodgers still wants more options in his midfield.
The Colombian international can play anywhere from behind the striker to further back in central midfield, as well as on the wing. He has been growing in stature and ability since joining Porto last year.
It is believed a combined deal for the pair would set Liverpool back around £22m.
