The west London side have made an offer for the Bernabeu battler and will look to beat Arsenal to the signing in January, with the 27 year old way into the final year of his Real Madrid contract.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho was pursuing Khedira over the summer though no official bid was registered but Chelsea will make a move when the transfer window re-opens and one imagines the Spanish giants would consider offers for the former Stuttgart man so as to cash-in on his services in preference to seeing the tough tackler leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
One wonders what role Khedira would fill in Mourinho’s starting eleven with Nemanja Matic impressing in a defensive midfield role, though perhaps the World Cup winner is deemed a better alternative than the likes of John Obi Mikel and more rounded performer Ramires.
