Red Devils hope to lure another Bernabeu star.Manchester United could follow up their summer signing of Angel Di Maria with a move for another Real Madrid star this January, according to the Daily Express.
Portuguese left-back Fabio Coentrao is the player in question this time, with Louis van Gaal keen to have another option to compete with Luke Shaw in that position, having seen Patrice Evra leave the club for Juventus in the summer.
Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind can also play that role, but seem to have been bought to play centre-back and defensive midfield respectively, with Coentrao now seen as the ideal signing at left-back.
United were strongly linked with the 26-year-old during David Moyes’ reign at Old Trafford, and it seems that van Gaal is a fan of his as well, with the club now readying a move as it looks like Real themselves could also be on the lookout for a new signing in that part of the pitch in the next transfer window.
This would allow Coentrao to leave the Bernabeu, and he could then join his old team-mate Di Maria in moving to England, with van Gaal hoping the Argentine winger can persuade the player to move.
