The Uruguay international has grown frustrated at PSG and is annoyed that he is continually being played out of position to accommodate the ageing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

He will now discuss a move away from the French capital and will consider joining one of the several Premier League clubs that are interested in his signature.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been tracking the forward for several months and could rival each other for the player in January.

The Gunners need attacking reinforcements with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud being ruled out for several months due to injury.

Danny Welbeck limped out of England’s win against Estonia on Sunday night which suggests he could also be set for a spell on the sidelines, leaving Arsene Wenger with a shortage of fit attackers.

At Liverpool, summer signing Mario Balotelli has failed to adequately replace Luis Suarez, meaning Brendan Rodgers needs to go back into the transfer market to sign attacking reinforcements.

Although Cavani wouldn’t be cheap, he would add much needed quality to both sides.
