Manchester United fans could be forgiven for leaving out Daley Blind when they real off the names of Manchester United’s summer signings. That isn’t meant as a slight on the Dutchman, more a reflection of the money the Red Devils spent, and the world class talent they brought in.
But the 24-year-old defensive midfielder has settled quickly at Old Trafford, and is not bothered by being surrounded by the likes of Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao.
Reports on Goal.com quote Blind, who believes he will thrive in a star-studded Manchester United dressing room due to the self-confidence instilled in him at Ajax.
The £13.8m signing insists the characteristic of the Amsterdam residents, which is drilled into academy players at Ajax, will ensure that he is not fazed by the presence of United’s big-name stars.
He told reporters: “I’m not a player United [paid a fortune for] like Di Maria, but that doesn’t make me a shy boy in the dressing room and on the training pitch. Thanks to Amsterdamse bluf, we Ajax players have a natural self confidence.”
Blind has made four Premier League appearances since reuniting with Van Gaal, his national coach at the World Cup.
