The young star is highly regarded in his homeland and has thus been dubbed as the new Kaka. He had been in talks with Real Madrid about being a replacement for Sami Khedira, who has been tipped to make his way to the Premier League in the near future.

However, reports are now suggesting that the Blues have moved in on Madrid’s interest and are now closing in on a deal to bring him to west London in the new year.

It is thought that Mourinho convinced the Chelsea board to move quickly on a deal for the player, but in doing so he is risking the ire of the Real directors, who are understandably unhappy at being outdone by their former employee.
