The Baggies are keen to tie down the England Under 21 international to a new contract in an attempt to ward off interest in their forward, with Liverpool, Man United and Tottennham all known admirers of the speedy forward.
Berahino’s £15m price-tag is certainly starting to appear very reasonable after he racked up his sixth Premier League goal of the season with a composed finish against Man United on Monday night.
The youngster only penned a new deal 11 months ago but West Brom are ready to offer a further increase to his salary, though a fairly modest one at that, which will see his earnings move to £25k a week.
Interest from Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is perhaps unsurprising given the poor form displayed by summer signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert, both of whom are yet to net a Premier League goal. When you factor in Daniel Sturridge’s continued injury absence then it’s entirely plausible that the Merseyside outfit might look to bring in a fresh striking weapon in January.
