Sami Khedira Lowers Wage Demands To Help Seal Arsenal Move

The German midfielder’s talents are highly sought after, but the Italian press think he will decide based on more than just money.

Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira is one of the hottest properties in Europe, and reports in Italy claiming he is willing to accept as little as £80,000-week at the right club have just made him a lot hotter.

Italian paper Corrierre dello Sport focuses on the story from Milan’s angle. They rather dubiously claim that Carlo Ancelotti may be able to persuade Khedira to join the Italian club on reduced wages because the Real Madrid man is already rich, and just wants to play somewhere where he’s guaranteed minutes.

If this is true, Arsenal could suddenly be in a great position to sign Khedira. They are the best side chasing the tenacious midfielder, and can guarantee him star status in the team, plus they would be able to offer him considerably more money than cash-strapped Milan.

Arsenal will first have to hope that the German isn’t swayed Ancelotti’s persuasive powers, which were apparently behind Jeremy Menez, Alex and Diego Lopez’s moves to Milan. If Arsenal can offer the much-coveted Germany international a better deal at the Emirates, they could trump the rest of the queue for his services.
