Stamford Bridge side want experienced Nou Camp star.
Chelsea are reportedly readying a move for Barcelona defender Gerard Pique with the Metro claiming Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho sees the Spaniard as a long term replacement for John Terry.
The Blues skipper turns 34 in December and is out of contract next summer and as such it’s wise for Mourinho to look at a worthy replacement, however one would’ve thought that French youngster Kurt Zouma was brought in for just such a job?
Chelsea signed Zouma from Saint-Etienne in January, loaned him back to the Ligue 1 side until the summer, and has now started to ease the youngster into first team action.
Regardless this source claims that 27 year old Pique will be the subject of a £24m January bid and given the summer arrivals of Jeremy Mathieu and Thomas Vermaelen there is perhaps a slight chance Luis Enrique would consider offers for the former Man United man.
Pique hasn’t been at his best this term but is undoubtedly one of the best in the business when he is displaying his top form.
