(Video) Controversy in Copa MX Shootout

Puebla advanced to the Copa MX final last night after a penalty shootout against second division side Lobos BUAP.

That itself is not so remarkable.

The controversy arose because the Lobos ‘keeper saved Puebla’s third penalty but the ref ordered a retake due to a small encroachment. The retake was scored.

Lobos BUAP then saw their decisive fifth penalty saved with the Puebla ‘keeper much further off his line than the save which caused a retake moments earlier, but the ref overlooked it and allowed the goal to stand.

Was it a fix to prevent a second division side progressing to the final and a possible Copa Libertadores playoff game?

You decide.
