United linked with £18m-rated centre-back.
Manchester United are said to be preparing a January move to sign £18m-rated Atletico Madrid defender Miranda to bolster their defensive options, according to Fichajes.net.
The Brazilian international, 30, has been one of the best defenders in Europe for the last year or so, establishing himself as a major player in Atletico’s superb title-winning campaign last season, as well as their remarkable run to the Champions League final.
United are in need of new defenders after losing the likes of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand in the summer, with the club missing out on some other big-name targets before the start of the season.
Miranda was one of the players linked with the Red Devils in the last transfer window, and it is now expected that Louis van Gaal will prioritise his signing when the transfer market opens for business again in the middle of the season.
There’s no doubt Miranda would make a top class addition at Old Trafford and improve on current options such as Phil Jones and youngster Tyler Blackett, who has seen plenty of first-team football this season due to a surprise lack of depth in that position for United.
