Reds could’ve brought in exciting winger Sadio Mane.
Liverpool missed out on the signing of a winger who has settled into the Premier League wonderfully, according to German football expert Raphael Honigstein, with the club’s scouting software apparently deciding that Red Bull Salzburg winger Sadio Mane wasn’t good enough, something that has largely been disproven by his fine form for Southampton.
Incredible: S Mané had only one other PL offer: WHUFC. L’pool turned him down – he didn’t rate highly enough in their scouting software

Mane eventually signed for Ronald Koeman’s Saints on transfer deadline day and, despite slowly being bedded into the team, he has hit form in recent weeks as Southampton have continued their incredible rise to second in the Premier League table, riding on the coattails of league leaders Chelsea.
Instead of Mane, Liverpool’s attacking midfield signings including Adam Lallana, from St. Mary’s, and Benfica youngster Lazar Markovic, neither of whom have been able to live up to Mane’s performance on the South Coast since they moved to Anfield.
