Anfield side ready to spend big on fresh striking option.
Liverpool are readying a massive £30m bid for FC Porto forward Jackson Martinez according to the Daily Star.
Though Brendan Rodgers brought in Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli over the summer it’s fair to say that neither has steadfastly failed to fill the void left by Luis Suarez’s move to Barcelona.
Indeed neither player has managed a Premier League goal and as such it’s not surprising that Liverpool would look to bring in a fresh option, not least as Daniel Sturridge has been out for a sustained period to boot.
Colombian Martinez may be keen on a fresh challenge and has more then proven himself over the course of two and a half seasons in Portugal.
The 28 year old has racked up an impressive 72 goals in 106 appearances for FC Porto but having seen the club lose their Primeira Liga title to arch rivals Benfica last term a move to Merseyside could be ideally timed.
Martinez’s powerful stature may well make him an ideal weapon in the overly physical confines of the Premier League.
