The 30 year old right-back has been in ongoing talks with Benfica over an improved contract but with no new deal in the offing there is every chance he could be on his way.

Brendan Rodgers is keen on acquiring the experienced Primeira Liga star and are ready to make a move for the former Defensor man and could well see Pereira as a replacement for Glen Johnson.

The England man is out of contract next summer and has done little to warrant a new deal and as such Pereira would be a very useful replacement.

Pereira moved to Lisbon side Benfica back in 2007 and has made over 300 appearances for the Portuguese giants and may be tempted by the chance of following in the footsteps of fellow countryman Luis Suarez at the Anfield club.
