Stamford Bridge side join race to sign Swiss international.
Bayern Munich reportedly expect to receive a Chelsea bid for winger Xherdan Shaqiri in January according to the Daily Star.
The 23 year old is being pursued by a host of Premier League sides with Liverpool, Man United and Tottenham also said to be keen on the Swiss international, though Jose Mourinho may fancy his chances of securing the former FC Basel man given his side’s position at the top of the table.
Shaqiri looks set to leave the Allianz Arena after seeing his first team chances limited under Pep Guardiola and a move to Stamford Bridge is sure to tempt the World Cup star.
Shaqiri bagged a hat-trick for Switzerland against Honduras this summer and is a player with great potential who may well stagnate at Bayern Munich if he remains much longer at the Bavarian club.
When called upon Shaqiri has proven effective, racking up 15 goals and 16 assists in 65 appearances in his first two seasons in Germany, a stat that is all the more impressive when you consider 34 of those appearances were from the bench.
This season Guardiola has handed Shaqiri just three Bundesliga starts and he was subbed on two of those occasions.
A move for Shaqiri could leave Blues wide-men Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah concerned for their Chelsea futures.
