Sporting Kansas City signed 26-year-old defender Jalil Anibaba on Friday after acquiring his rights from Orlando City. He spent a mere 5 days at his old club before being transferred.

It marks another murky trade in the world of MLS.

Anibaba was only selected in the third round of the 2014 MLS Expansion Draft by Orlando City on Wednesday and was subsequently traded to Sporting KC as part of an agreement reached on Monday.

It’s all charade to circumvent, beat, and twist the strict rules around salary caps in the league.

The player made 112 appearances over four years with the Chicago Fire (2011-2013) and Seattle Sounders FC (2014). He has scored four goals and grabbed six assists since his debut.
