Bernabeu raid on the cards as Stamford Bridge side target German international.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly readying a January bid for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira according to the BBC.
The 27 year old German international has struggled with injuries over the past 18 months but has still played his part in helping his Bernabeu side to a Champions League triumph in May as well as a World Cup triumph in Brazil over the summer.
Khedira’s Real Madrid contract expires next summer and would then be available on a ‘Bosman’ though Mourinho is keen to complete the deal next month, knowing that a host of prospective suitors will be tracking the former Stuttgart man.
Though Mourinho has seen Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas form a superb midfield pairing the Blues boss may feel Khedira is a more able back-up to the likes of Ramires and John Obi Mikel and clearly the west London side may be able to land the experienced Real Madrid star ‘on the cheap’ as the La Liga side may prefer to cash-in on the tigerish midfielder over the prospect of losing the player on a free transfer in six months time.
