The former Chelsea star only made the move to Goodison Park this summer after leaving Stamford Bridge on a free, but he has been unable to cement a regular place in Roberto Martinez’s starting lineup.
Eto’o may now be tempted by a return to La Liga, where he has previously shone for Barcelona and Real Mallorca, cutting his spell with the Toffees short this season.
Valencia want to bring in new attacking options this winter and have identified Eto’o as a realistic target to give them some quality and experience upfront.
Despite not playing regularly, the 33-year-old could be a big loss for Everton as he is known to be an influential figure on the training ground and a good mentor for the club’s younger players.
