Moyes was spotted at Anfield last week amid reports that he was scouting a potential transfer target and he could now be set to move for the recent recruit when the transfer window re-opens next month.
Can has only featured sparingly for his new employers since arriving over the summer, and has struggled to make himself a permanent fixture in the starting XI so far.
It is believed that Brendan Rodgers still has big plans for Can in the future, but for now Moyes is hoping that the lure of more regular first team football may convince both the player and the Reds that a short term move would be beneficial.
Moyes is also said to be keeping tabs on Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam.
