The Spanish international goalkeeper had something of a frosty relationship with Mourinho during his time in charge at the Bernabeu, though he did not wish to speak too much about the issues that plagued his time at the club.
Although Casillas said that his current manager Ancelotti, who guided Real to a win in the Champions League last season, is better than the Portuguese coach, he conceded that Mourinho deserved thanks for the titles he brought to the Spanish giants during his reign.
He also wished the Blues boss well for the future and believes the two would shake hands if they were to meet now.
“Ancelotti is better than Mourinho,” he said. “With Mourinho I had a love-hate relationship. In his time here I did not speak of him when he was in my locker room, nor do I think that I have to talk now when he is already managing another team and I’m with my team. It would be a bit self-seeking and a little cowardly on my part.
“(I hope) That things go very well for him. In the time that he was at Real Madrid, he won titles and you have to give him thanks”.
“If I cross paths with him tomorrow I am going to extend my hand, then it will be up to him if he shakes it. I think he would shake”.
Casillas also added that he does not have the best relationship with former club and country team mate Xabi Alonso, saying: “It does not interest me what he says. In the last years our relationship has not been adequate.”
