Reds linked with powerful Premier League forward.
Liverpool are reportedly lining up a £15m bid to sign Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The Reds are struggling upfront this season due to the poor form of summer signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert, while repeated injuries to Daniel Sturridge have also hit the club hard after Luis Suarez’s £75m move to Barcelona.
Benteke impressed greatly in his first season in the Premier League, but spent a long time out injured last season and this, though he is now back on the radar of top clubs after recently making his comeback.
There’s no doubt the prolific Belgian international could make an impact at Anfield with his physical presence and quality upfront, but it remains to be seen if £15m will prove enough for Villa to consider letting him go.
Liverpool are also being linked with a move for Benteke’s team-mate Fabian Delph, with the England international into the final six months of his contract at Villa Park.
